Treatment of Human and Animal Bites

 

Patients who have contracted an animal or human bite are at risk of infection the following areas need to be considered:

 

Antibiotic Treatment

Tetanus Prophylaxis

Hepatitis B Prophylaxis

Rabies prophylaxis may need to be considered if the animal was a bat or the bite occurred abroad. Contact a medical virologist/ microbiologist for advice.
