Antibiotic Guideline for the Empirical Treatment of Sepsis: 

Severe Sepsis of Unknown Origin

Does the patient have ANY of the following:

                    OR

  • Recurrent urinary or biliary tract infections (greater than 2 in last year)
  • Sepsis despite current or recent (within the last week) treatment with broad spectrum antibiotics e.g. co-amoxiclav, cefuroxime or quinolones e.g. levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin
