Antibiotic Guide for Community Acquired Aspiration Pneumonia

• PO Co-amoxiclav 625mg tds (prescribed as co-amoxiclav 375mg tds with amoxicillin 250mg tds) and

If Nil- by-mouth

•  IV Co-amoxiclav1.2g tds (7 days total course).

If allergic to Penicillins discuss with microbiology

Notes

• If not responding to treatment or severe pneumonia please discuss further investigation and treatment with a medical microbiologist.

• Review antibiotic therapy in light of microbiology results.
